Next step: Earth Day (April 22)

Emboldened by the Earth Hour experience, I'm looking for ways to celebrate Earth Day (April 22), which turns 40 this year.

Earth Day is usually for schools; a day for teachers to bring up environmental issues in their classes. But there might be something for me to do. My kid has been telling me that she wants to "go clean the Earth," which I think means pick up trash.

Does anyone know a spot in need of trash picking?
