I just recently discovered that I could have pages on this blog so I made one on our need to promote solar energy in El Paso.
The highlights: El Paso Electric launched a pilot program last week giving an upfront rebate to homeowners that pays for 30% of the cost of installing solar panels. The rebate sold out in 2 MINUTES! That tells you two things: 1) El Pasoans are interested in solar, and 2) El Paso Electric needs to ramp up their incentive programs.
The truth is we are behind a lot of places when it comes to stimulating a solar market in El Paso. We are even behind Las Cruces. Next thing you know Las Cruces has solar panels on every roof.
What can you do? Come to City Council Chambers at 7 a.m. (I know, it's dreadfully early) May 10 and tell them El Paso should be the solar capital of the Southwest.
